Pre-K is 5!

EMG is celebrating -  2016 will mark the fifth anniversary of our Pre-K Multi-Client Press Conference, an event that has successfully established itself as a regular in the “K year” calendars of leading Tier 1 plastics and chemicals industry editors.

I’ve been involved in each event to date – Brussels in 2004; Antwerp in 2007; Amsterdam in 2010; Mainz in 2013 - and now the preparations for Antwerp 2016.  From the outset the format was well received and this event attracts more and more attendees each time.

Here’s why.

At a K show editors are bombarded with news, company updates, exciting product innovations, launch parties and so on. Our Pre-K Press Conference gives them the chance to meet with several leading players in a less hectic, more focused environment, while giving participating clients a cost-effective platform for getting their messages out there and heard ahead of the rest.

Editors from some of the key chemicals and plastics trade press share their views on the event’s value.

Chris Smith, AMI Magazines Editor-in-Chief, comments: “The run-up to the K show is a really busy time for our editorial team at AMI.  Over the past four K shows, EMG’s Multi-Client Pre-K meeting has proved an extremely time-efficient opportunity for us to gather information on participants’ plans and new product introductions.”

Tej Fernandez, Plastics & Rubber Asia (PRA), says: “I have attended all of EMG’s multi-company press conferences and found them to be useful in building up contacts with key representatives from companies in Europe and the US, since I am based in Asia. Furthermore, the events provide a plethora of information that I would not otherwise have been able to glean from the companies.”

Natasha Alperowicz, executive editor IHS Chemical Week, comments: “This will be my fifth time at EMG’s Multi-Client Pre-K. The event not only gives a great preview of what leading players intend to focus on at K, it gives me the chance to question senior management about their news and to make more efficient use of my limited time during the show itself."

Our experience – and editor feedback – shows how effective the Pre-K can be in building relationships with the media. Importantly, it can achieve advance coverage of a client’s news and activities so that visitor awareness and interest is raised ahead of the show.
